Owensboro, KY – RPM Holdings, a Redtail Renewables and Pacolet Milliken joint venture, celebrated the official ribbon-cutting of the renewable natural gas (RNG) project at the West Daviess County Landfill, marking the facility as fully operational. The project captures landfill gas and converts it into renewable natural gas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing the landfill with additional revenue.
“We want to thank Daviess County for its forward-thinking leadership and willingness to tackle fugitive methane emissions,” said Casey Holsapple, CEO of Redtail Renewables. “This project reflects the County’s commitment to recognizing and solving the problems of today while creating long-term solutions for a cleaner future.”
“This project is a win for Daviess County residents,” said Charlie Castlen, Daviess County Judge Executive. “Owensboro RNG will extract landfill gas as a usable product as opposed to flaring the gas. This project significantly decreases expenses and will result in a revenue stream to the county which will help control rates.”
The Owensboro RNG plant captures landfill biogas that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere. The facility removes CO2 and other contaminants from the biogas and creates renewable natural gas (RNG). RNG is a clean, drop-in fuel that can be used for transportation, industrial or power generation applications. A long-term commercial offtake agreement for the RNG is already in place.
The facility is expected to generate up to 500,000 MMBtu annually, the greenhouse gas equivalency of removing approximately 4,100 cars from the road each year. The Owensboro project reflects the joint venture’s commitment to advancing renewable natural gas solutions across North America.
“This project is a great example of what happens when local government and private industry work together to tackle environmental challenges,” said Lance Jordan, Chief Investment Officer of Pacolet Power & Infrastructure. “We’re proud to partner with Redtail Renewables and Daviess County on a facility that transforms waste into a renewable energy solution with real environmental impact.”
Redtail, which is headquartered in Indianapolis, specializes in the development and operation of landfill biogas and renewable natural gas projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create long-term environmental and economic benefits. Redtail is the operator of the project and is sponsored by Inyarek Partners, a private equity firm based in Boston, MA.
“We’re proud to support Redtail and its partners in delivering a project that embodies both environmental responsibility and economic value,” said Paul Kaboub, Partner and Co-founder at Inyarek. “This facility underscores our commitment to disciplined execution, delivering reliable, high-quality assets that perform to the highest standards.”
Redtail is actively pursuing new opportunities and developing RNG projects across the country. Learn more about RPM’s renewable natural gas initiatives by visiting redtailrng.com or pacoletmilliken.com.
